Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

K2 Triaxial 8.3 Extreme 204 skis with Salomon bindings - anyone know them?

Bin or sell?

My son has just been given some of these skis by a mate who's moving house and asked him if he'd like them (I suspect couldn't be arsed to take them).

Now, I don't know enough about skis to offer any sort of opinion. Suffice to say, I reckon they pre-date my learning to slide - the rather straighter, narrower style looks.....er....unfamiliar!! Laughing

Anyone out there know these skis? A quick Google search found a pair up for sale at $75 - I'm going to suggest to son "Ebay them or bin them".

Suggestions from the better informed would be welcome Smile

Just took a pair to the tip about a month ago. They were 190's though, with Salomon 977 bindings. Yes, a straight ski, from the "1 ski does everything" era. Definitely not suitable for beginners, they were supposedly designed with input from Glen Plake. If the bindings are from the same era, you will not be able to get them safety checked legitimately as they are on longer on the dealers lists. Do your son a big favour and bin them.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

snowbunny, thanks - that was the way I was leaning. And they do have 977 bindings too, as it happens. Out of curiosity, what were they like to ski on? And when do they date to? Looked poss early 90's?

Chasseur, They belonged to my OH, he seemed to enjoy them a lot, and needed some encouragement to be parted from them and onto shaped skis. I used K2TRC's, also in 190, they were on the same load to the tip! Yes, you are right on the dates, early 90's.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Chasseur, The 977's according to TGR are back on the list of ok bindings after salomon deleted them by mistake

Alex A, I learned to bend 'em back.

Imagine 3 beered-up shop techs and a vise and bending them 100degrees the other way...

I had a pair in 1989. Unless you are a collector of ski memorabilia, I'd say there are better bets out there.

I used to have a pair too. Really trashed the edges 5 mins in to my first ever off-piste run.

Nice skis then, but not good by todays standards.

Absolutely not a collector and, as mentioned, they had a very unfamiliar look - all straight and narrowish Laughing
