I am looking forward to seeing the new Rendl lift in a couple of weeks time. I would be interested to hear from anyone that has seen it this season. I understand you now uplift from the bus park just below the Galzig. If so, where do you ski out to coming off Rendl? Is it still to the old lift station (and do you still have to get the bus to connect to say... Galzig)?

I think you ski back close to the new gondola (just opposite) and then walk on the new bridge (over the road and car park) to the gondola station.
I have not seen it yet though.
It is only a couple of hundred meters walk from Rendl gondola to Galzig gondola. There is no need for bus I think.

Tom W, thanks, didn't see that site before. They must have extended the piste before it crosses the river I guess....

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

There is a thread about new lifts in Arlberg somewhere on this forum.
I would like to hear from someone who's been there already this year how the connecting bridge is working. Is it skiable or only for walking.

The piste now cuts skiers right at Bifangalm (cosy restaurant near bottom of Rendl) and then drops you nearly in front of the new lift. No bus needed anymore. Whole thing has been very smartly done. Short walk between Galzigbahn and Rendlbahn now. Makes Wannele (SR R5) route and nearby off piste options a bit more committed now as they have removed the Tobel tow lift. Doesn't seem to have made things that much busier on Rendl yet. Think 2011/12 plans for Kappl/Rendl link are still floating around.

I heard from an instructor last year that the ultimate plan is to take the rendl lift all the way to Ischgl! Anyone else hear this?

Although the redesigned Rendl lift is more convenient it means the few runs in Rendl will be busier.

nigels, the plan is to connect Rendl to Kappl area (40km of runs in the Paznaun valley, same valley as Ischgl).
But I do not think so there are any plans to connect it further to Ischgl. From Kappl you can take a bus to Ischgl. I believe it is not that far.

A Lift link from St Anton will NEVER be built. There was talk of a train tunnel link to ease road traffic in the Paznauntal.
Projekt Dias (Kappl > Rendl ) will happen maybe this summer but probably more like 2011/2012
You can read about all the details in various links, etc I have posted here

You know it makes sense.

Certainly the locals in Kappl last week were talking about the link to Rendl, but certainly not Rendl to Ischgl. Wonder if the Bifangalm will now get busier - always a really nice spot for lunch/drinks?

Rendl was top notch last week - the heated seats on the gondola were lovely although on a warm day with a hangover not so much fun!
The flat at the bottom is doable on a snowboard but the bridge can be a bit hairy!
