Poster: A snowHead
|
Nipping off for a long weekend on 9th April to the Portes de Soleil staying in Chatel. Have already posted under resorts, so thanks for those replies, but want to open it up and ask if anyone has been to this area this late. I have never skiied this late before and am dubious about whether we'll actually get much skiing due to melting snow. Your experiences please.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

In the northern Alps north-facing slopes above 1600m are usually fine in early April, so you should enjoy great skiing on many of the higher sectors of the Portes du Soleil.
There's no hard and fast rule, of course. If you're lucky, slopes at lower altitudes could be OK too.

tomski, fingers crossed then. Like you say, quietly optimistic because it is still very cold. Enjoy La Plagne, where are you staying?
David, thanks again.

sallyanne, Belle Plagne, cant remember name of accomadation off hand, think its Casiopee or something like that!
I have fond memories of Chatel from when i was a kid (well actually, the memories are a little vague, but i remember being one of those annoying little kids that screams down the slopes without a care in the world!). This will be my first time in La Plagne tho, im excited, although 1001 things to sort out before then, lol!!
