I'm looking at a photo of approximately 60 red-jacketed BASI trainers - the most knowledgeable and influential instructors in Britain - on a slope at Hintertux two months ago. One of them is wearing a helmet (it's not Vladimir Putin)
There must be some reason these BASI trainers have decided not to wear helmets. Maybe they're aware that their use hasn't reduced the incidence of fatalities from head injuries in skiing. I'm sure they wouldn't turn to a pupil and say "You wimp, stop wearing that helmet". Can't say what Medvedev said to Putin on the subject - it's not recorded.
