Got a week booked in Corvara with Colletts in Chalet Verena.
Anybody got any info/reviews re Chalet Verena as my Father in Law can be a fussy old fellow sometimes (erm...most of the times) but my main question/worry is if Corvara suitable for a very nervous, timid second weeker as one of the girls in our party is starting to have second doubts and this will be our first time in Corvara

Louis, I think it will be fine, from a previous trip to the Dolomites - it seems a pretty easy area but someone with more direct experience of Corvara will be along soon I expect. I've booked the same chalet - when do you go?

Louis, Collets are a very good company but I have no experience of Chalet Verena. There is some very gentle skiing up on the Alta Badia plateau and some even milder stuff along the short horizontal lift to Colfosco. She would struggle to pick somewhere better for her needs.

Louis, Corvara is blue run land. If i was taking friends who have never skied Covara and Colfosco would be top of my list

Louis, great spot for timid ones, plenty of easy blues and still enough challenges for intermediates, head over to Arabba, Selva or Hidden Valley!
I'm sure even fussy FIL will love it!

I can't wait for February half term when we take nervous mum to Corvara with Colletts. I went last year to Arabba with Colletts self catering and have decided to go Chalet Verena this time. The skiing will be fine for the nervous members of your group. As for the Chalet, you get what you pay for. Colletts offer great value for money but not a la carte. (I'd manage your fussy f-i-l's expectations)
Have a great time, I can't wait for mine!

We stayed in Chalet Verena a few weeks ago. It's great. The rooms are spacious and well equipped - probably a slightly higher standard than their properties in Arabba.
The location is the best I've ever had for a chalet - probably about 50yds to the Boe gondola and the chair to Colfosco.
The nervous will be fine - Colfsco and Pralongia offers excellent skiing for beginners and slower intermediates, as well as plenty of rifugios for a cheeky bombardino!

Louis, don't worry, Corvara is a great choice for someone you describe. Easy runs, sunny aspect and fantastic views, they'll love it.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Thanks for that, looking forward to it even more now. A little more snow forecast for tomorrow so everything should just be about perfect.

Where was the ski hire shop Sport Kostner in relation to the Chalet?

You know it makes sense.

Very close - 50-100m. It's the shop that the Colletts folks recommend as it's owned by the same family as the chalet - they will accompany you there if needed. The kit is up to date too - even the cheaper rental stuff is new this season, which is a godsend for hiring boots.
I believe it's affiliated to SkiSet so you may be able to get a discount booking in advance online.
