Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The key to enjoying the on-piste performance of a 90-mm waisted ski is to spend a whole day on a 105-mm one. Next day the 90-mm one has grip, versatile turn shape, anything you want!

(that said, my Dad enjoys very much his 72-mm waisted B2s...yes, I know, punter skis etc...)

I went from B2's (older 76mm) to 98mm skis and found the wider ones to be much better on piste. Stiffer and easier to carve with.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Scarpa, I think that had a lot to do with the torsional rigidity of the new skis...or was it the noodly nature of the old ones wink Laughing

My 100 mm wide Prophets are great on piste (providing it snowed heavily all night)
Seriously, they're pretty shoite on hardpack compared to my Monster 82s, which are themselves shoite compared to a proper dedicated piste carver in those conditions.
Rather than on and off piste, it might be better to say soft or hard snow. My Prophets are great on piste if the snow is fresh and soft.

uktrailmonster, do you know if the Monster 82s have changed much when Head brought them out this season as the Peak 82?

Fat skis still work fine on piste, just you have to open up your turns to a more gs size/shape, which can be a little unnerving at first. The only time they are bad is on really hard or icey pistes, which can be hell.

I find for everyday skiing a bit of everything my Dynastar Sultan 85's are ace (probs better than last season's Legend 8000's, which are actually skinnier), and for more offpiste stuff my Big Troubles come out to play. Next year I will be augmenting my quiver with a slalom and hopefully full powder skis.

Jennewein in St Anton have a poo-poo load of different types of ski, both in the shop and the rental area. Make sure you got the main one between the Galzig and the car park though. Ask for Geoffrey, he'll sort you out.

Eh up,

An update, if anyones interested! The first skis i wanted to test were the Sultan 80 or 85 and was a tad disappointed to say the least!

Jennewein had been recommended, but the guy there had never heard of either, and seemed to deny their very exsistence by telling me that the Legend 8000 is still the current model, which im pretty damned sure it isnt?

I refrained from asking about the Magfire 82xti, AC30 or Monster iM82 for fear off coming across as some kinda smart back bottom!

IMHO thats pretty poor, if a punter like me has more product knowledge than a guy working in a specialist ski hire shop in one of the worlds premiere resorts...

Anyway, got the Legend 8000 and had a great day on it, im in St. Anton and im gonna have a blast...bad workmen and all that!

Cheers fellas
