Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

where can you get a train to from geneva ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
am arranging a 3 or 4 day skiing trip in march, but people will be flying from various uk airports
so i'm centering on geneva as a coimmon denominator
and then waiting for everyone to turn up and not be delayed to all get the same transfer ....

So, what good resorts for 3 or 4 good intermediates that we can access by train from Geneva ?

Suggestions ?

The Swiss resorts are possibly the easiest by train ..... all 4 Vallees, Champery, Crans, Gstaad Superski , Zermatt, Grimentz etc...etc... some with a Postbus for last few miles etc.

Just about anywhere in Switzerland - the swiss train system is efficient but can be slow. Verbier and Zermatt are the obvious big-name choice, but there are lots of others depending on your ski desires: Crans Montana, Andermatt, Grindlewald/Wengen/Murrren ...

When we did something similar we used to long weekend in leysin which is about 2 hrs travel from geneva, last to arrive had to visit the wine shop on the lower floor of gva on the way to the trains and purchase the bottles of wine and sampling glasses for the journey.
You can get train times using the planning tool at
http://www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm

The leysin tourist office was helpful getting reasonably priced accomodation.

We also went to Leysin a few years ago, qute interesting resort, here's a report on the resort

Leysin in Switzerland (in the Lake Geneva Region region) is a large resort with 14 lifts (7 chair lifts, 4 surface lifts) that offers skiers an incredible 1050 metres (3445 feet) of vertical descent. Leysin has 29 pistes with a total length of 60 kilometers (38 miles). Leysin is best suited to beginner skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for both expert and intermediates. There are 10 kilometers (6 miles) of cross country ski trails at Leysin. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. A small proportion of the pistes at Leysin are covered by snowmaking. The closest airport is at Geneva but the transfer time is 2 hours. The nearest train station to Leysin is at Aigle. There is accommodation located close to the pistes but we would welcome additional information about any hotels or chalets in Leysin.

Although we had a coach transfer there was a funicular railway (nice and good priced restaurant on station platform!) which must connect to Aigle. Maybe the area is a bit small but maybe enough for a long weekend?
