Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

OK, my experiences (or rather those of julesb) in Serre Chevalier, France.

We were at no time asked to stump up any cash, or present any credit cards, other than the standard 30€ (or so) doctors fee. All I was asked to do by the ambulance was to contact the emergency number for our insurers and report the accident. The ambulance staff spoke to them on the phone during the trip to Grenoble. I used the EHIC card at both hospitals, and gave them the insurers details for the costs that weren't covered by EHIC. Insurers dealt with these directly, and claimed back on our behalf anything that was covered by the NHS.

Hells Bells' experience is delightful, but does not match up with mine. At both Val D'Isere and Alpe D'Huez I had to fork out substantial pharmacy costs. Additionally I had to pay there and then at the medical centre with my credit card. The doctor was very unhelpful in co-operating with my insurance - to the extent that the doctor was loathe to send a fax. On both occasions I managed to get myself off the hill without assistance - so no costs were incurred for that.
