kezzy1966, Sk'ing similar to Isola2000 generally, airport access not that easy .... Italian-speaking but shares much of its culture with France.
Only tip would be make sure it is a 'snowy' year, sort out your transfers ... Genova closest but Nice only a bit further.

I understand that cuneo airport is now open + the tourist office runs a a bus from airport to resort for euro7 each way. Ryanair flys direct to cuneo.

Only been there in the summer, but it looks like a really nice place. I gather it does not have a great snow record so I'd check the reports before you go, but if the snow is good it'll certainly be on my list, and if you can get cheap flights to Cuneo even better. Driving from Nice is not too bad, certainly less than 2 hours.

Just got back from Limone (16-23 Jan 2010). Quiet a big village, full of appartments. The runs are a bit so-so. Although they say they have black runs, I think they are mostly easy-ish reds. Fairly awkward if you are a beginner as no starter runs at village level. Instead you need to get bus to Limone 1400 (3.60 euro per deay return). Limone Bus stop at the only roundabout in the village by americano bar.
Village, although pretty, was completly dead. Several bars but averages 6 euros a pint in the village (ouch).
One main ski shop/ rental place (Botteski?) up the hill near the gondola. Massively overpriced if you are wanting to buy anything. Small little womens jacket 600euro, fancy fleecey hat 80 euro. However ski service (wax & edges) is resonable at 20euro.
From what we heard, it is only busy several weeks of feb and at new year. Jan and March hotels offer a massive discount with ski pass. 7 nights, B+B, 6 day ski pass , 325euro. (hotel marqueris). That means ski pass is discounted from 176 euro to 100 euro.
Although the main shops are on a single flat road, you will have to walk up the hill to the gondola. Hotel Princip (4*) has the best location with being very near to lift.
Flew Ryanair to Cuneo Airport. Tourist office have a minibus from airport to Limone (or another to Prato Novoso). Scheduled to meet the 2 ryan air flighjts per week. Minibus drops you at your hotel. 10euro each way. You can but ticket off driver but I would advise you try and book in advance to ensure your seat.
There is also a bus from airport to Fossano Train station for you then to get to Limone (change Cuneo).
If in village for a week, it is worth taking a day out and either getting the train to Cuneo(30 mins, 5 euro return) or turin (2 hours, 14 euro return).
Generally enough skiing in resort for 4 days. After that one might get a little bored.
