Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just curious here. I'm wondering how many people here have a pair of handmade/made to order/custom skis? & what attracted you down this route?

frank4short, we have handmade skis - we (I) liked the look of them and they were a bargain... they ski very nicely as well.

I wouldn't bother myself with custom geometry/construction - I don't think my needs are so specialist that I couldn't find something off the shelf to suit.

I would go for custom artwork if it were available for a reasonable cost.

I really don't know my needs well enough to be able to articulate them to someone who could then decide ski specs. I'm sure I'd end up with a more suitable ski the conventional way: demoing a number of different pairs and then buying the one that feels best. I will know the right ski when I ski it and there are more than enough different skis out there that one would be a good match.

Perhaps if I was a top WC racer I could say which I wanted in a long list of trial skis I'd tried from my sponsor with subtle variations.

Well i bought a pair of Kingswoods the winter before last. I probably could have got a pair of mainstream skis that were similar but i liked the idea of getting the the topsheet, stiffness, shape & size exactly the what i wanted. I did pay a premium for them but now i have a pair of badass skis that are pretty much unique at least anywhere i've been with them so far.

No not been to cham since the winter before last.

Though cham is the one place on earth outside of new zealand you're likely to see multiple kingswoods. The guys in Fall Line are the only shop in the world where they've an agency to sell them.
