Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I am on my own and want to ski! I've never been without friends or family before so I want to find a group of friendly people. I am 26, female and will go anywhere! Looking for around end of Jan or Feb. Or can anyone recommend a company I can book with on my own and guarantee to meet people wherever I go? Are chalets a good option?

Thanks!!

Why don't you come on the birthday bash to Italy at the end of January? I'm going and although I'm going with my boyfriend, he's been to a few snowhead trips on his own and hasn't known anyone at first. He said that there's loads of people like him who just go own their own and you meet loads of people and find people to ski with. Even though we're going together, we won't be skiing alone with each other the whole week, we'd go out in a group of other people because it;s more fun that way. You should come.

Hey, thanks guys! I did look at Mountain Sun, would I definitely meet people if I went with them? I couldn't find anything on their site about solo travellers.

The birthday bash sounds great but I couldn't find much info on it? Does anyone know if they will release details soon?

Lauraa, I've been skiing alone plenty of times. One great thing about skiing is that you're surrounded by like-minded people wherever you go. Staying in a hotel or chalet is a great way to socialise with others if that's what you want. Or if you travel with a TO they often organise ski guiding days where you can ski with a big group.

The only downside can be single room supplements, but I think it's worth paying a bit extra to have your own space.

I've not been on a snowHead bash but they are very popular and seem to be a great way to meet other people to ski with.

Lots of options for you and you might end up like me. Someone who travelled alone for many years but now I meet up with ski buddies same week, same resort every year, people I just got chatting to a few seasons ago.

I think you'll just need to keep looking for details to be announced. They're waiting for the approx numbers before they put details on about the hotel etc. We're waiting for that announcement then we're going to book our flights. Seriously though, most people who go on these bashes travel alone and meet up with people once they're there. My boyfriend has met a few skiing buddies by doing this.

Laurraa, I feel that these posts are right in that the feel of most things skiing is very inclusive / freindly / helpful and whichever way you go should get you good holiday. I've organised groups for years with an open invite and we always seem to get joined by interesting people and meet others out there often in chalets. I can give you a personal recommendation for a chalet in les-Houche (edge of chamonix) well run, good mix of people, owner run and very knowledgeable about area / social activities etc. just let me know via post if you need details.

have fun.

Hi Lauraa!

Would you fancy a trip a little sooner than you have outlined? We have a few spaces in a trip to a great chalet in Meribel for 3rd-10th Jan. Most of the group is aged 23-28, males and females so you'd fit in perfectly! The chalet is really well kitted out with sauna and outdoor hottub too and its great value because all of your catering is included so we're not having to visit expensive mountain restaurants each day but still get to soak up all the essential apres-ski atmosphere!

If you're interested to know more, email me at richard.bishop@live.co.uk and i'll give you the full low-down!

Hope to hear from you soon,

Richard

I generally travel alone, friends never seem to have the time or the money. Rather than miss out, I just book and go.

As other have already said, it is very easy to link up with other bods once there.

Single supplements can be a pain but can also be avoided through careful selection.

End of Jan and beginning of Feb I am in the Jungfrau. End of Feb and beginning of Mar in Obergurgl, if ya there at those times, gimme a shout! wink

"A bit" unfortunately generally means double the price, at least when it comes to a room. Almost everything is priced for at least 2 people in a room, and the supplement is you pay for 2 people even if it's just 1.

Thankfully flights aren't charged in such a way.
