...would need to fall before it was a sensible move to ski down the road by us? I'm slightly concerned about the idea of trying to edge on tarmac, but fancy giving it a go.

not that much Elizabeth B, we had about three inches last night and the back lane is now packed snow on a firm base. If I had some crap skis I might give it a go !

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It depends on how packed it is. If it is all new snow just fallen, quite a lot.

There was a base of about 1mm this morning, but it's all fresh stuff on top of that.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

There is maybe 2-3 inches of hard packed snow on the road outside here. People are constantly whizzing by. On the other hand, the mighty Vanbert (our Renault Trafic) is still making it up without chains!

I walked the dog on the local country park late this afternoon and there were definate snowboard and ski tracks.
This morning there were loads of sledges there but these tracks couldn't have been from them. Too much turning.
About 4-6" of snow.

XC skis work well on a tiny amount, just find a grassy area.
