Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Vallandry - getting up to Les Arcs for Lessons

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have to make a quick decision between la Tania or Vallandry at half-term. One deciding factor is access to advanced level group ski lessons for first thing in the morning. In La Tania, hopping over to Courcheval 1800 where there is a good choice, is not a problem. I've never been to Les Arcs, so don't know if the same is possible from Vallandry to the bits more likely to have more specialised lessons. And before you ask - New Gen can't take us (ooer, I've already left it late for booking lessons!)

Hoping someone can advise.

where?

Arc 1800/1600/2000/1950

Arc 1800 is one lift, 1600 is 2 lifts, 2000 and 1950 is 1 lift + transarc (bubble).

I just called someone and confirmed that links are OK. The next question - is there a range of ski schools, that will do half-decent group lessons for 2 advanced skiers at half-term (and still have places!)

SuburbanSkier, The main ski school in 1800 is Arc Adventures, and based on what I've seen whilst skiing around the place, I wouldn't rush to recommend them. Some people have recommended Spirit 1950 (see below) which is based in 1950, but I'm sure you could arrange to meet the instructor somewhere more useful e.g. top of the arcabule. Although you'd struggle to do that for 09:30 during 1/2 term week.

Other ski schools in Peisey-Vallandry include Darentasia which are also New-Gens' recommended snowboarding partner althought I have heard no views on them. However my spies in resort tell me that new for this season a branch of Evolution2 is opening. Given they'll have an empty order book, and have a pretty good rep e.g in Tignes - then I'd get on the phone/email and give them a whirl.

bertie bassett, Sorry but the main ski school in all resorts of Les Arcs including Peisey Vallandry is the ESF not any of the smaller ones.

SuburbanSkier, Arc adventure are good if you can get one of there guys.

But give Privilege a call. Tell them I recommended you and they will try to fit you in I am sure. (see link below)

If you go to this link all the ski schools are listed.

http://www.lesarcs.com/Lessons-for-children.html

(They are not just for children just the way they set out the links.)

My personal favorite is Initial Snow.com but that is just because I like the way they teach. Evolution 2 if they are coming to Peisey are good. You will need to go to the Peisey web page to get the link. Or contact them in La Plagne.

If you go to the Les Arcs snow report page at the start there are loads of links about the resort.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the responses - hope I've helped others, but I'm afraid I heard this afternoon that we are going to La Tania after all - nothing to do with the above but a complicated saga about chalet availability. Anyway - lesson no 1 - book ski lesson BEFORE December for half-term - intermediates and specialist!
