Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How do i put French address in my Sat Nav

Hi, we are driving to the Alps in January. Normally we print off route and use maps. However this year as i have finally entered the 21st Century will be using a Navman Sat Nav as back up as well.

Obviously in the UK i just put in a post code or street and town, how do i put in say the following address which is for the Formula 1 hotel we are crashing in overnight.

Urm i have got France in the machine, i tell it i am Dans Francais and then it recognises 73000 Chambery but not the street!!!!!!!!!

Change your SatNav. Tomtom recognizes the address straight away.

Timbobaggins, print off a local streetmap from google maps and give you satnav a local name it does recognise. And definitely, whatever you do, use the satnav as backup - they can do daft routes in the Alps in the winter, make sure you know the way without it and know where it's taking you

And don't forget that once you cross the channel it will talk to you in French.

Timbobaggins, The problem is that the unit doesn't recognise your keystrokes as French. The solution is simple if somewhat bizarre. Shocked You just need to slip the unit into a condom. Shocked
