Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Niseko, Japan - Season 09/10

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Got out here on the 3rd of December and the resort was in desperate need of snow, over the last seven days there has been a nice 14" of snow in resort and more up the hill which has helped the skiing area no end.

For the end of this week they are predicting some warmer weather due to the south westerly winds with rain forecast in the village but the higher slopes should hopefully escape the rain. After that we will we waiting for the big snow dumps to roll in.

Quick photo from yesterday.....

I'll try and keep this thread updated every week or so, and for those of you who are heading out here for the season get in touch and we can arrange some good skiing time.

So the rain fell yesterday in resort, but at the top it snowed alot even though it was rather wet and heavy.

Today the temperatures have dropped low and are meant to stay low for the rest of the season now, about 1.5" of snow in the village and it still snowing. The forcast for the rest of the week is more snow, aprox 15" over the next 5 days or so.

I see snow forecast has it to snow all week (although there forecasting is a bit dodgy) bit if they are saying its gonna snow all week locally then thats great news!!

Got a bit carried away with the skiing so not much on the photo front......

No where near the deepest powder and I'm standing still at the end of a run.

It was nearing nipple deep in places today! I was sinking so deep even with my pocket rockets, time to invest in a much fatter ski me thinks!

Forecast is showing non-stop snow for the next 3 to 4 days!

spyderjon,
I´ve been having the same thoughts about Siberian temps etc - however after 5 days at -17deg here in Austria I hope I´ve got the cold weather gear nailed : long sleeved helly-hansen:ice-breaker merino:fleece shirt & ski jacket: silk & fleece long-johns & ski salopettes have worked a treat wink

Have you seen the latest reports on http://www.snowjapan.com/e/daily/niseko-now.php

Quote:
Well it seemed last night that the alpine overlord himself, Heinrich Von Dumpenhousen, was here to play because right on six the heavens opened up releasing copious amounts of the light, dry white stuff

It even cleared slightly this morning and those getting first tracks would have done so with sunlight gleaming off the new snow. It's mostly cloudy and snowing again currently though. We had about another 50cm of snow overnight and in places it may actually almost be getting too deep out there if that's possible. You certainly don't want to find yourself stopped on a flat section off-piste or you'll be attempting to swim your way out Laughing .
