Poster: A snowHead

Resorts opening in France this weekend:-
http://pistehors.com/news/forums/viewthread/365/#1217
Les Deux Alpes is also opening. So that gives a lot of choice from the Alpes through to the Pyrenees.
Obviously les 2 alpes and val d'isere have been open since last weekend.
Expect warm temperatures from Sunday with rain above 1700 meters so make the most of it.

Above or below?
Would be nice to get some decent snow before the weekend of 13th/14th.

That's not good at all...
The weather's got another week to get cold again and snow properly before I get upset though.

chamonix meteo also forecasts warm/foehn but with the "evolution incertaine", which is a relief. The GFS ensembles suggest a welcome degree of uncertainty about the alarmingly high freezing levels but - as ever - because snow-forecast gives no indication of reliability their picture appears rather more stark.
And - the good news is that it seems to be snowing hard tonight, with low temperatures.

Bergmeister, snow-forecast doesn't really confirm anything, they just take the automated models feeds liks many other sites. So rather than confirming anything, they're just repeating it.
Chamonix Meteo on the other hand has real live weather forecasters interpreting the models, mixing in local observations and knowledge and producing a "real" forecast.
At the moment they're saying, from http://chamonix-meteo.com/bul/metPreMatEn.php
"SUNDAY DECEMBER 06
Fairly mild - hazy sunshine at first - rainy disturbance coming in during the afternoon
SKY CONDITIONS (cloud - sunshine) : partly cloudy to cloudy in the morning - high cloud coming in from the west - becoming mostly cloudy to overcast in the afternoon - period of sunshine close to 30%.
PRECIPITATION : starting up in the afternoon - rain-snow limit towards 1800 m.
WIND - aloft : WSW moderate to strong.
TEMPERATURE : rising."
and although they forecast milder, showery weather till Wednesday, the killer comment is,
"Forecast reliability : fairly good until Sunday - poor thereafter."
