ha - Its defn not the mighty Glencoe.
The lifts are too new
Judging by the treeline I would guess somewhere in North America.

I'd like to clarify that I don't actually think it is Glencoe

It must be La Rosiere, surely!
Is there a prize for guessing correctly?

It's not alta, none of the chairs there have safety bars - and verve123 (welcome to snowheads by the way) says it's in austria

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Looks like one of the old Gernkögel chairs at Alpendorf/St Johann im Pongau - probably the second stage (Kreistenalm to the top of the Gernkögel).
But that has largely been replace by a fabulous new gondola , although the chair is still there I think and is due to be replaced soon.
How old is the picture?

I'll take a punt on Sonnenkopf, seeing as the chairs have a touch of the Arthur Negus about them.....

I remember that lift being made out of what I can only describe as plastic school chairs... orange ones I think... but that might have been the first stage and not the second.
I don't think it is there though as the valley would show either the town or the top of wagrain.

flangesax, No, from the mountain looking through the chair lift you are looking up the Salzach valley towards Goldegg, Schwarzach and St Viet or possibly across towards the Hoch König range. Wagrain is over the other direction - so if it were the right location, a couple of lift rides behind the photographer.
It would be the old second stage from Kreistanalm to the top as the chairs were (are?) made of wood. The first part was upgrade a couple of years back! It was a real back of the knees basher too!
