@depthjunkie, The thought occurred that maybe your technique on blacks/off piste could do with a check up? Perhaps something in your stance/position could be tweaked to avoid so much thigh burn? Just a thought.

kevin mcclean=you're only 40 man! Have you got a medical condition that means you need one of these? I've know people that wear them but usually after some mishap has robbed them of muscle or strength or some such thing. An able bodied person shouldn't need to use this device. I'm 67 and have had 1 minor mishap, smashed knee and a major one, lots broken, punctured etc and I still ski under my own power. Save it for when you REALLY need it.

@Old Man Of Lech, by my calculations he should be 49... but agree with sentiment. I read all threads about the ski mojo with interest as I suspect I will be needing it but thankfully have been able to return to skiing with just a hinged brace (just don’t tell the consultant who last operated on that knee just to get me weight bearing again!).

When I need one (and I expect and accept that day will come) I will get one, it will I am sure allow me to ski harder for longer (each day, and through the years). Until I NEED one I won't get one, so it won't be cheating.
Addressing the question in the OP: Because the manufacturer chooses to use a mainly direct supply model.

Now I'm thinking about this subject a memory has just come to me (those who know me will attest to the vagaries of my memory):
Pretty sure I was having a beer/lunch in a piste side bar with the brand owner of Mojo when a snowboarder came in, he was in hard boots and on a carving board, and was using a heavily modified early model of the Mojo as purely a performance aid. A bit of a chin wag about the engineering obviously ensued.
Now: Is that cheating??
If that memory is real, then there must have been a few other sH's there to confirm it did happen.

I know Martin recommends drilling - but I never have had a problem with the fittings just screw clamped to the boots.

kevin mcclean either disappeared years ago, or changed his username. Even on the old SKGB open forum he used to lob the odd hand grenade into a post and then retire from the ensuing carnage. It was usually quite entertaining.

Well I spent my first day with my newly acquired Mojo's and also my first day back on proper slopes (as I don't regard Milton Keynes as skiing per se!)
Initial impressions - they have not turned me into a budding Franz Klammer, they have not improved my technique and they certainly haven't made me consider myself a 'cheat'
What they have done is give me a new lease of life with 2 x ACL reconstructions in my left leg, lax PCL and medial ligaments in the same knee together with a complete lack or cartilage and meniscus in both knees thanks to a life time of battering them in the Army which has resulted in 4 arthroscopies on each knee to flush out/trim up and remove damage debris from them and now the onset of fairly severe Arthritis as a result of the combined abuse they have endured .
If truth be known, I am not as fit as I should be, I should exercise more and train for the mountains, but I can't due to the state of my joints, but these babies have allowed me to ski for a day and my legs feel like I haven't done anything. Why is it being referred to as cheating? I should have given up skiing years ago, but now after becoming a father at a late age and now having a son of 3 1/2, I am able to take him on holiday with me and hopefully by Friday will have escorted him down a nice gentle blue or two. The only thing where cheating would come into it, would be me cheating my son the chance to enjoy the hobby I have loved doing for 40 years and for me to enjoy watching his development. £480 well spent - I will not be able to replicate these memories again!

Is there really an argument over whether the Ski Mojo is cheating???
99% of this forum (made up statistic... but probably true) ski for fun... not for competition (where it probably isn't allowed anyway). Fun. Remember that thing? You gauge your own fun - nobody is responsible for doing it for you. And you choose how much physical exertion is appropriate for your fun. For some people, skiing isn't fun unless they get back to the hotel absolutely shattered. To other people it's a more leisurely affair. How would you compare the cheating factor of say, somebody who just skis the morning without a ski-mojo, versus somebody who skis the whole day with one?
Nobody has the right to judge you on what makes your day fun. If a ski mojo means you can ski better for longer and you get a greater enjoyment out of that... then crack on. Anybody who considers making your day more fun as 'cheating' needs to give their head a wobble.

Just to add to the above - I have just returned from a weeks skiing with a 59 year old friend (male) who has a very damaged/arthritic knee. He has had his mojo for several years now and without hesitation he would never be able to ski all day with us without it - its as simple as that!

Cheating! - as well as a Ski Mojo, I also have a E - Mountainbike. If people accuse me of cheating, then I agree and then laugh loudly. My enjoyment factor and pain levels are at such opposite ends of the scale that any other response would indicate that i give a flying fcuk what anyone else thinks

@Frosty the Snowman I don't cycle when we go on holiday now, as I can't keep up with Jules, and probably could at least attempt it on an e-bike, but I'm not really sure he approves. I could just buy one if I wanted to but is more justifying the expense TBH. Even if I was superfit I couldn't keep up on a normal bike. I was going to hire one last summer, but it never happened, and even J didn't go out on his all that much.

@kevin mcclean if your only 40, you are not old enough to have one.
You have to have a Bus Pass before you are old enough to appreciate them.
If you are only 40 you should still be improving.
I use my Mo-Jo's, yes they are a bit of a phaaf to get on but with practice you'll get it down to just a couple of minutes.
Its still a well kept secret.

e bikes and ski mojos may be for someone who is not medically 100% able bodied. I am 41 still improving. When i don't ski, i fell race, hike with kids, ultra run, cycle, and rest.
agree: if your only 40, you are not old enough to have one unless vide above.
