Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Last minute deals - catered chalets

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Folks,

I'm hoping to go boarding/skiing with a few friends in Jan/Feb/March 2010 and it's been suggested that we look out for a last miunte deal to a catered chalet.

I have to say I don't know a huge deal about resorts other than the more popular ones but only by name rather than what they're best for.

My friend's been to France and Austria... and seems to favour Austria...

I did go to Zermatt in June for a bit of summer boarding which I loved. But it's quite a trek out there and I think something a little closer would be better.

Have any of you had some good deals or can recommend any good travel agents/operators?

Thanks in advance. (Sorry if this question is asked a lot!)

Smile

crumble, welcome to snowheads. Yes, the question does crop up frequently but the advice bears repeating

January will be cheapest, then march, with feb being most expensive as it's half term

keep your eye on the big aggregators rather than individual tour ops - igluski.com, alpineanswers.co.uk, ifyouski.com etc etc. Onec you find a holiday you like the look of, find out more detail about the specific chalet / hotel

the bigger the group, the harder you;ll find to get a last minute deal. If ti's two of you, fine. If it's 20 of you, book now.

don't go by "reputation". I'd be happy with one lift, in the right conditions: equally I've been stuck in a "high mileage" resort for a week in crappy weather and hated it

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

hi, here are a list of websites which i use, i find them really usefull and with 2 weeks to go some of the deals are like 60% off, really good value. http://www.stantonchalets.co.uk/ http://www.ski-chalets-tignes.co.uk/?referrer=google&gclid=CImrpfayrJ4CFVeY2AodiRmVlA http://www.ski-chalets-morzine.co.uk/ http://www.valthorenschalets.co.uk/ http://www.courchevelskichalets.co.uk/ http://www.skichaletsverbier.co.uk/ hope this is enough for you, basically, put the resort name in google, followed by "catered chalets" and then the first link should be by the same company that run those links i just gave you. The web format is the same so you should be able to spot to make sure its the same company, good luck!!!

Thanks for the tips and info -. I'll have a look through those.

There will probably just be three of us going, so I guess we'd have more of a chance finding something.

Other websites that are like clearing houses for selling off ski holidays for tour operators are; Iglu Ski, If You Ski and Ski Solutions.

http://www.skisolutions.com/

http://www.ifyouski.com/

You can google for Iglu Ski.

Just to add to your confusion, here are another three links. I stayed with ski amis last year in the 3 valleys (group of 14) and it was the best holiday ever. snowHead

Good luck!

Thanks for all the links guys! Very helpful of you Smile

I like how St Anton Chalets shows the space remaining, really useful.

Alpine answers look like they have some pretty good deals too.

Plenty to go at - Thanks very much!

Hi, holidaying at Ski Chalets is a wonderful idea and that too with friends. Well, I would suggest you to spend your fun time holidays at Scott Dun Ski Chalets. They've got attractive packages and really luxurious rooms and services with a lot of out door as well indoor activities for fun.

Are they having trouble selling their holidays, what's wrong with them, are they overpriced or something? Puzzled wink

Someone's got their SEO head on Smile

If I remember right they sell luxury holidays.. (as they're a competitor of the company I work at!)

The chalets do look nice... tho they're a wee bit pricey for my budget! Shocked

Back on the original topic... I think I've found a reasonably good deal to a catered chalet in La Plagne in Jan for £299. Smile

Just gotta convince the seasoned skiier to go now! (She isn't keen on France) Sounds ideal to me though!
