Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just thinking I may drive to Switzerland this weekend and my last vignette was a 2008 one. If I get one now, will it expire by end Dec 09 / end Jan 10?

An 09 vignette is good until the end of January 2010.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

horizon, if you bought your vignette in Dec 2008 then it is valid for 2009 until the end of Jan 2010, a 2008 vignette will have expired at the end of Jan 2009.

horizon, Details here. http://www.ezv.admin.ch/zollinfo_privat/informationen/00421/index.html?lang=en

The vignette is valid from 1st December in the year prior to that printed on it until 31st January in the year following that printed on it.

So if you buy one anytime from tomorrow, it will be valid until 31st January 2011.

alex_heney, excellent, that's what I was hoping for. Thanks!

(my previous vignette had been bought in 08 and expired end Jan 09. Haven't been to Switzerland in my own car since).

Just check that it says 2010 on it. If it says 2009 in big numbers then it will not be any good after Jan 2010. They are not supposed to be selling the 2009 ones after today for that reason.

Most of you probably already know this but for those that don't - you can buy your vignette online in the UK from the Swiss Travel Centre .
We did this in '08 and it popped through the letter box in a couple of days. Very easy.

Not that relevant if you're travelling to swiss resorts but if you're airport running from PdS, GM, 3v, Tarentaise, I know of a couple of people that managed to take the motorway bit from France to the Airport without buying a vignette - having been stopped at the border they said they were just 'airport running' in and out, and were allowed to pass. Dunno if they just got lucky or it was a day with a full moon or similar...

We bought some French Vinaigrette last December and it still seems ok, so go for it.
