Poster: A snowHead

I have a group of friends of mixed abilities, who love the nightlife, food and drinking, the dancing and the drinking, the bon vivant and yet more drinking. And it will probably either be a choice of France or Austria, so here's the pop quiz.
Best Resort for Mixed Abilities
Best Resort for Night-Life
Best Resort for Drinking
Best Resort for Food
Oh Yes, let's not forget
Best Resort for that killer view in the morning when you have a marching band keeping time in your head
I know this is all subjective, but hey, I like subjective.

Best Resort for Mixed Abilities - Klosters/Davos: You have Madrisa for kids/beginners, Parsenn and Davos for intermediates/advanced skiers, and some awesome off piste off the back of both Madrisa and Parsenn.
Best Resort for Night-Life - Zermatt: a variety for all, good pubs (Papperlas, Brown Cow, North Wall, etc), good *amusing at times* clubs (Broken, SchneeWitchen), and the Hennu Stall and Igloo bars on the piste. Plus the Vernisage if feeling cultured, and some good places to eat.
Best Resort for Drinking - Zermatt. See above. Or Jackson Hole for a different (and cheaper) experience.
Best Resort for Food - Zermatt without ANY doubt. The on piste stuff is the best of anywhere I've ever been.
Best Resort for that killer view in the morning when you have a marching band keeping time in your head - Zermatt has the Matterhorn, which takes some beating, but Zurs can be stunning in the village.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

solataire, Rule out anywhere but Austria. Lots of countries have ski areas for mixed ability groups, good scenery, food etc. but nobody does nightlife like the Austrians. As for which resort you need to be a bit more specific about what you mean by mixed ability. Is it beginner to intermediate, intermediate to expert or the whole range? The answer will determine resort recommendations as will your budget.
Resorts with great nightlife: St. Anton, Solden, Ischgl, Saalbach, Mayrhofen. All have good snow records, good to great skiing and decent food although culinary delights are not Austria's speciality - good if you like meat though.
swisssnowbunny, Best resort for mixed abilities - there are loads of resorts that meet that criteria.
Best resort for drinking for nightlife and drinking - Zermatt, not a chance.
Best resort for food - yes it has great mountain restaurants but expensive.
Best resort for killer view - not much argument there but I suspect Solataire's main requirement is for drinking.

What Corky said; if a decent nightlife is on the agenda then it just HAS to be Austria.
I've been to Mayrhofen for each of the past 2 years and its a great resort. Plenty of skiing to keep all abilities entertained and a really good apres scene. The morning view won't be great as the village is in the valley and all the skiing is to be had a cable car ride away. But aside from that it should tick all your boxes.
Failing that, Saalbach may be another option.
