Can you give us a "in a nutshell" guide to what this is? ie without having to translate the link from German/open loads of links and documents etc......

mountainaddict, you play the downhill races as the world cup circuit rolls round and it ranks you against your 'friends'. Pretty cool but you guys know I will just win again
Edit: it is a load harder on the Mac unless they have improved it this year.

So what's the get-up here? Post a best time?

Sideshow_Bob, you sign up and join a snowHeads group (think last played 2 seasons ago) and it records your times and puts them in a league table against everyone else's.

Ok, first run I did a 1.59, sure it'll get quicker once I get the hang of the course etc. Will join a group when it gets published.

This new course is fair bit longer than most of the others, although on the first run through (training mode) it seemed less tricky than most.

I tried to load it up. It took ages and seemed rather slow on my computer once I opened it up. My computer is by no means old and rarely that slow. It is a one year old Vista.

You know it makes sense.

It loaded and ran OK on my computer at home, but the loading phases were slow. And it locked the computer up completely when I tried to exit.

Brilliant news - really enjoyed this the last couple of years.
Wonder if it'll work OK on my laptop as I'll be away this year and will have to play on that instead. Fingers crossed...

There's your problem. You say it like Vista isn't complete b*llocks. It's the worst OS ever. Although i still would have expected a one year old comp to be able to run this sort of thing.

I don't think even Vista is quite as bad as Windows ME was.

I ran vista for two years with no problems - it's not the demon people make it out to be so long as a computer is powerful enough!

----snowheads group made !!! ----
I have made the snowheads group for the 2010 game....
You have to visit the website (available from the homepage link)
login
visit the skihutte (on the right under your username)
Then in the top field under "Wenn Du Dich bei einer Gruppe bewerben willst, gib bitte den exakten Gruppennamen an" enter
snowheads
You can then put a little message in...
After that - we can hold weekly races etc... Maybe we could do them on a Sunday night or something (cos it does seem that you have to set a time and date... then you get up to 3 hours to practice, qualify and set a time).
I guess it will be best to wait until next week for the first race??

Awesome, I love this game.
Then I read:

That's a naff adaptation. I didn't properly take part last season, but the year before you could just get your times in anytime before a cut-off point. Thumbs down to the developers for that one...

skisimon, I might hae it wrong... it may be the deadline - but it gives me the option of setting the date, time and duration of the race...
So so far we have...
Billymski
dk100
tiffin
arv
flangesax
elnombre
kitenski
If I get 10 players I might sort a race out for Sunday night.... (I htink we can do them as much as we like rather than only one race is one location - but I will check!)

I *think* the normal races etc are the same as last year, but now you can have group races on a set date/time??
|
|
|
|
|
|
So... what I have worked out is that you can qualify at any time leading up to a race date in any condition you fancy.
Then the actual race is held on race day (i think).
---GROUP RACE---
I have set-up a group race for Sunday from 6pm (UK).
I have set the 'duration' for 4 hours (so I am only assuming that you have 4 hours to get a time down from 6pm)
So - Good luck!!
My PB at the mo is still over 2 min!!... 2:10
|
|
|

Hopefully that should be me registered....
Now just need to find some speed!

If it works in the same way as last year, the qualification window was quite long, and qualification was very easy. Then you have a very short window to complete the race itself (maybe as you say, only one day). After that, the next qualification was unlocked.
