Poster: A snowHead
|
Am planning to get by my ski boot inners properly fitted as the ones that came with the boot are have compacted down. Prefer to get it done in resort so any niggles can be ironed out overnight (and cause it sounds cheaper than getting it done in the UK!!).
There's a current thread about fitted liners, but none about price/recomended fitters in resort.
Advice welcomed!

Which resort?
I'm afraid that I haven't seen it much cheaper on the continent than here. Although don't your (valid) comments elsewhere about being able to go back and re-adjust apply to somewhere you visit for a week and don't return to apply as well?
How well do you ski? as ZipFit liners may be a cheaper/better alternative if you don't want/need race level precision. e.g.
http://www.snowandrock.com/shop%5Cactivity%5Cski%5Caccessories%5Cinsoles/products/EZFAM.htm and they don't need to be fitted by a fitter. You just buy them, ski and go.

David Murdoch,
That liner is as expensive as the boot itself! £136 pound notes can be used to pack the loose spaces inside the boots and you can feel they are there too!

saikee, depends on what boots you have. Last season, I bought a pair of Tecnica XTs, had them fit and ground by a top boot fitter (Jeff Bergeron), had him build custom footbeds for me, balance me fore/aft, and paid him by the hour for his work. I probably did spend almost as much on fitting as I did on the boots. It was worth it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

ssh,
Better not show this web page to the wife. When I bought her the Tchnica Icon a few years ago I told her it was the most expensive boot I could lay my hands on. Nobody said anything about a getting a boot fitter to put the boots on!

That's a very good price for those Zipfit liners fron Slush&Rubble. I've got some, only done a week in them so far but they seem to be excellent.
Like ssh I too paid as much for liners, insoles and fitting as I did for the boots. It's worth it.
