That board could be a bit big, if you are average weight for your height (less than 60kg) then it would difficult to learn on a board that big. In answer to your other question, no, many of us ski and board and you should persevere with learning to board.

No, you should board. Doing both is fun. However, I'd say that's a bit long - eg I'm 5'6" and ride a 151.

noble, As posted on other thread - Mrs cad99uk is 5'3" and rides a 149cm board very well.
I would give that board a go. Make sure you do not have your bindings too far apart.
K2 boards are good too so would be a shame to give it up.
And boarding in powder is just magic!

I'm 5ft 2 and my current board is only 144 (previous board was 143). There are all sorts of bits of advice out there, the board should stand at a certain height against you, board size based on your weight... all sorts of stuff. Apparently for my height and weight I should really be looking at a 149, but I just prefer a shorter board as that's what I've always ridden.
I think that although it might be a little bit long for you, if you have never boarded on anything else then you will not know any difference! You might find it a bit more difficult to turn and control than you would on a shorter one, but when you get better it will also be more stable at speed than a shorter one. Keep it up. I used to ski and when I started boarding I was constantly thinking of going back to skiing, but am glad I persevered as now I love it. If you find your struggling with it then you could always PX or sell it and find another cheap board??

Out of interest, which K2 board is it?
I'm 5'6" and have ridden both a 150 and 15 and am looking at buying a board this Winter. I've pretty much ruled out women's boards tho as I'm on the heavy side and so am at/above the heavier end of the weight ranges the manufacturers give. Much preferred the 150 (even tho same board but different lengths), but that might be down to the stance on the longer board being set wide so I felt like I was starting to do the splits!

OKAY, FOR THE LAST TIME.
It doesnt matter how tall you are as much as how much you weigh.
If you look at a new snowboard there is a sticker that rates a certain model length for a certain WEIGHT range.
If you ever go into a shop and the employee that is helping you holds the board up and says it should be up to your nose.
Inform them that you are not planning to ride the board with your face, then Run dont walk to the exit.
