Im watching this with interest as I have paid £181 for my lift pass from my TO in advance for ADH in Jan.
I did this after all I could find was passes costing over £200 when I booked the holiday about 2 months ago.

Pryle, if you've booked with Crystal ring them up with your booking ref and they'll sell you a pass if you want one. on the crystal website the 6 day area pass is £193 which isn't a whole lot different to €210. wait till you're on the coach - you'll be able to pick one up then if you want and you can check the price - the pass will usually be delivered to you before first lift on the first day......

We did ADH last year with Neilson (excellent catered chalet), the hire shop we used through Neilson gave us their business card when we returned the equipment and promised a 10% discount on skis, boots and passes if we came back next year and used them direct i.e. not through Neilson... I've always found that you can get passes in resort cheaper than through the Holiday Company, but you usually have to know someone or have a contact in resort - Speak to Charlotte on here or see her web site www.easiski.com for good prices at L2A and ADH

williams691, how do you get cheaper passes in resort?
as far as ski-hire goes always in resort, never through a TO. the TO takes a huge commission on ski hire, IIRC i was told up to 50 or 60%, so when you walk in off the street ask for a price and you'll get it cheaper for sure. the main thing i was told by the guy in the hire shop is that if you walk in off the street you become one of the ski shop customers, not a TO customer and the equipment and service you get is very different.

I've always had a "contact" of some description in resort and the times I purchased lift passes from the TO I later discovered that I could have saved about 10%, now whether that is because of "special" local discounts for staff or just some luck on my part I don't know, but that's my experience - also wrote to a resort with a minor complaint about the lifts one year and got a complimentary pass...

I have just booked through Crystal and lift passes are 2 for 1 so it may be worth talking to them again.
@ Rogg
i also used to manage overseas ski resorts and the shop commission for the tour operator was aroun 3% - very low and very unlikely to make a difference in the service you receive.

darbyrw, only repeating what the hire shop told me - the one in Alpe d'Huez just by the Hermitage.
