hatchet, welcome to snowheads. ONly ever taken the black Sache down to Les Brevieres so can't comment on the blue piste sorry. down in LB there's a restaurant right at the end of the piste, not particularly cheap (then again, nowhere's cheap in the espace killy!) but the food was good.

hatchet, Welcome! There are 2 or 3 hotels with bars in Les Boisses but not a lot else I don't think.

Welcome to Snowheads
No idea to the answer but I like your style sir; stopping for a drink 1/2 way down a run and then lunch at the bottom - sounds like a perfect ski holiday...

hatchet,
There is a restaurant/rest stop is at the top of the Chaudannes Chair Lift which starts below Tignes Lac in Tignes Le Lavachet. You will also pass this restaurant if you take the Aiguille Percee (Eye of the needle) Chairlift and ski down the Blue Run "Corniche". Follow Blue Run "Rhododendron" and "Melezes", there will be somewhere to stop in Les Boisses but they are not on the pistses. The blue run(s) continue passed the top of the Sache Gondola down to Brevieres.
In Brevieres the restaurants by the Sache Gondola Station by the Bridge are OK. If you want a nice restaurant go across the river bridge and directly in front of you is a very nice restaurant (it's doesn't look very big from the outside). Alternatively walk 150 metres down the main street and opposite the church is Le Sachette Restaurant (one of my favourites) in the whole area. In January the sun disappears behind the mountains very early when you're down in Brevieres so get a table inside the restaurant.

If you walk past the couple of bars at the bottom into the village itself, about a hundred yards on the left hand side is a very pleasant restaurant run by an English chap, although the menu is very French.
I don't recall the name but we ate there last December and it was excellent.

welshflyer,
Oops you beat me to it. It may be Le Sachette I was thinking of.
I still say one hundred yards though!

I second La Sachette - one of the very best local restaurants. Quite a walk by memory , in boots , certainly 150m. Quite agree with eating inside in Jan . Great memories of ski-ing with several families to Brevieres - the 3 runs , blue , red and balck mean there is something all can get down , and the town is a welcome change from functional Tignes.

Thanks to you all.
We are going away for 2 weeks this time so we can afford to take our time and chill when need be. When weve been out for just the one week we just try and cram everything in and feel guilty when we chill because we should be out on the snow.

Les Boisses - none by the piste, but if you don't mind a short detour, the Melezes Hotel has a bar (but I don't know the opening hours for the coming season).
Brevieres - avoid the restauraunts by the piste - a 5 min walk (in skiboots) into the village will increase your options & probably spare your wallet.
Try asking on the Tignes snow 09/10 thread on 'Snowreports'.

The first restaurant on the left as you look down the slope is the priciest drinks stop I have ever been into. And the waiter was rude (tried to pretend that he couldn't understand my fairly adequate French).

If you walk directly into Brevieres from the piste then carry on over the road there is a restaurant directly in front of you that is good. You seem to save €2 for every 50 metres or so you venture from the piste, the quality is also inversely proportional to the cost!
Freddie Paellahead, that place is awful. I remember my friend paying €30 for a tartiflette and a beer, I just ordered a drink and the guy looked like he could punch me in the face.

Welcome hatchet
That first bar/restaurant (skier's left) at the base of the slopes in Les Brevieres is called L'Etoile des Neiges. I've never had the time to try it out, but I've always thought it 'looked' worth a try: it's an attractive building and in a great pisteside position; so it's interesting to read other SHs negative experiences. 'Never judge a book...' and all that.
Def agree with advice to cross the bridge: the little 'village square' area there is one of the most authentically traditional & pleasant spots in the Espace Killy.

Agree with Spikyhedgehog, the restaurant if you cross over the road at the bottom of the piste is lovely. Only eaten there in the evening but would go back to Les brevieres just to eat there !!
I would assume its very much the same during the day. Very good food and not that expensive compared to some .... L'Etolie Des Neiges is expensive and after seeing the food they were dishing out when we went in there for a very pricey drink I wouldn't go back. Deckchairs outside are nice if its sunny tho

The restaurant straight ahead of you as you cross the bridge is called L'Armailly and the food is great, arrives very quickly and the service is friendly. It is one of my top 3 restaurants in Tignes. If the weather is not so good ring and book a table as the inside space fills up very quickly. 2 of my team eat there almost every week on their day off!
For the bar half way down there is nothing really apart from the Melezes. But you could start the run in the Alpage bar and restaurant at the top of the Chaudannes lift.
Unfortunately L'Etolie Des Neiges has the French version of our name, Snowstar, but avoid them like the plague. My guests are often returning from there and complaining of extortionate prices. We now try to remember to warn everybody to check the price before they order. I seem to recall that one group paid 60-70 euros for a pizza and 3 cokes. If I was the mayor I would shut them down!

One more thing, don't forget to check out the ice formations in the tunnel part way down the blue run, this can be very spectacular. It is also worth checking out the tunnel entrance from the downhill end as this is sometimes better than the entrance you see as you ski down.

Please do you have the telephone number for L'Armailly?

I have to agree, do NOT go to that place, first on the left. We paid £7 for a pint of lemonade back in Feb this year, our own fault for not checking the prices first but we thought it would be the cheapest thing to have

Hi Hatchet. I have stayed at the Dome in Les Boisses a couple of times. It's under new management this year (boooo) and I believe that they have opened the bar and restaurant to non-residents. But I would have to say that in your place I would skip the stop in Les Boisses and continue straight down to Brev. It's only a few minutes further and there is far, far more choice.

Having said that I just remembered my conversation with the lady from Tignes at the London Ski Show. She said that the municipality is trying to develop Les Boisses as more of a centre in its own right. The rerouting of the road is all part of a great master plan. So, in years to come there might be rather more reason to stop there.
