Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pas de la Case, Andora - RESORT INFO

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
This year i will experiment with cheap flights to Spain, car hire, hotel, lift passes and ski hire without a tour operator... So anyone who can advise me on a good cheap Half Board Hotel in resort (whom I can contact direct to book a room) preferably near the slopes, please tell me all you know Happy Other resort advice welcomed as we've never been to Spain Skiing as always stuck to France in the past. For those of you on a budget, looks like a week skiing start of Jan 10 comes in under £1000 with the freedom of a hire car for a week in case you wanna explore Happy

For 2 of us...

2x Flights = £115
Car = £ 130
Room only Accomm = £240
2 x Lift pass = £300
2 x Skis/Boots = £200

TOTAL = £985 (woo hoo)

But experience tells me that Half Board would be better than room only.... so your thoughts please.

If you've not already found it, have a look at www.pasdelacasa-andorra.com. They have contact info for hotels etc, plus discounted Grandvalira lift passes and rentals.

We went to Pas two years ago and stayed at the Himalaia Hotel which was superb, but not that cheap. If we go back (going to Soldeu this year) we'd probably do self catering or B&B because we found the restaurants to be very good and quite cheap.

Thanks, heard some bad comparisons i.e. Ibiza on snow.... any truth in that?

There's a good selection of bars, but wouldn't go so far as calling Pas "Ibiza on snow"!

You know there are other resorts in the Pyrenees that don't have any of that Ibiza feel... have a gander at the Tourmalet (tourmalet.fr), the largest ski resort in the french pyrenees. Not as big as Andorra in totallity but a bigger resort than any of the single ones there (there is alot of bussing to make use of the full claimed kms of piste there).

More like San Antonio kind of 90's Ibiza rather than the cool Ibiza

I'm going to Soldeu in January - went to El Tarter 2 years ago. DIdn't seem any rowdier than Val Thorens to me, so no Ibiza on snow....seemed to be predominantly Irish/Brits though, with more locals at the weekend.
For the record I got flights, accom (half board - Hotel Himalaia in Soldeu), ski pass, lessons and hire for £650.

I could be wrong here...but if you are driving from Spain, aren't you basically driving to the furthest point of GrandValira (Pas) from the Spanish Border...ie creating extra work for yourself?
