Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

dave_wick,

If the snows good, and you can use the terrain, probably the best sliding holiday you'll have had.

Nightlife on the other hand........................

Enjoy.

I spent a few half seasons at Red Mountain years ago and the skiers there raved about Fernie, on a par with Red. It will be small if you are used to European areas but the quality of the snow can be excellent and the tree skiing will be amazing.

Nah, admittedly Fernie's a much quieter place than your average euro resort where every night resembles freshers week. It does regularly go big, but only really in one bar a night outside of the weekend so you do need to know the crack if you want to have big nights every night.

So, hey, any people out there give us "punters" some education on Fernie?

There's 5 pubs in town , the Northern's mainly for lumberjacks and miners who may like a good ruck (unless its been rebranded since I last went in). Do the math on the rest - if the place isn't busy chances are the action's somewhere else that night. The action will always be at the hockey on a Friday or Saturday night early doors at least.

Griz for apres, Kelseys for generic N American chain bar and food. Kelseys not particularly kicking later. Mainly families stay on hill and self cater, season bums and workers provide the midweek atmosphere in town.

You probably wanted Banff or Whistler then - but never mind. Just don't stay up the hill in the evening.

I'm living above the Northern this year, hope the lumberjacks don't kill me Wink (it's been rebranded since it re-opened last year, but it's funny how one bar always earns the "local bar" rep and seems to change year on year)

dave_wick, what possessed you to organise a pub crawl halfway across the world without first checking that your destination had any pubs? Although I've not been to Fernie, I have been to other resorts nearby and they're about skiing, not drinking.

If you want to drink yourself senseless on holiday, I fear that you'll either be very bored or very unpopular with the other people in resort.
