Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pass Thurn to Going and back

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Having been to the the Ski Welt and Kitzbuehel previously does anyone think Pass Thurn to Going and back in one day is possible. I think it can be done. Taking the earliest bahn (which I've never seen) and not stopping for any food (sacrilegious) taking the last lift home I think it could be done, just, putting a flyer on! Any answers will placate a pub argument! Ta anyway e.g.

You'll have a lot of buses to catch as they are not interlinked via the lifts! Kitzbühel to St Johann in Tirol and then St Johnann to Going is one way. not really feasible on foot unless you are going to cross-country ski the bits between the resorts! rolling eyes

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

IIRC the only bus link needed would be between the Ki-West and Pengelstein valley stations. Providing all the lifts and pistes are open and you didn't take any wrong turns, I think it would be possible but I've never done it. I've skied both areas too, but before the new link from Brixen to the Westendorf Choralpe was built. Although I have done similar distances on skis in the 3 Vallees and Sella Ronda

If you didn't quite make it I'm sure you could get a bus back from Kitzbuhel to Going

e.g., yes I think you could do it. As luigi says, there is only one short bus ride needed, along to the Ki-West gondola from Pengelstein or similar. I'm pretty sure someone did it last season - I'll see if I can find it.....

Here you go - found it! http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=42183&start=320#1146701 although I'm not sure if he skied back again. However, if you set off earlier I'm sure it would be do-able

cathy, If you are referring to the post from Espri there, he didn't do what e.g. is suggesting, but only went as far as the end of the Ski Welt area (and back).

He is suggesting carrying on from where Espri turned back to pretty well the far end of the Kitzbuhel area - which looks like about another 8-10 lifts in each direction.

I don't think it is really feasible unless he is really pushing hard all day. But if he tries it and finishes up not getting back further than Kitzbuhel, there is a post bus service from there to Going, so he could get back without too much expense - it would actually be worse if he got further back.
