Hi,
This year my usual mates have a range of reaons for being unable to get away, but I'm still set on skiing in January as I have the last several years.
I'm a male in my 40s (married- booked flights to go with my wife at Easter, but it's just me for January 'cos she can't get off work )
I guess that I'm upper intermediate skier; Love skiing; Nothing flash - no air or anything like that but happy to take on most pistes and I like a bit of off, if near the piste!
I won't spend half the night drinking 'cos i like to get up and hit the slopes!
My strong preference is the last week of January, ie from Sat 23rd Jan, but could posisbly consider other times if I can fit it in with work (16th Jan owuld be my 2nd choice).
My usual would be France (fairly high) fly to Lyon/Grenoble with car hire but open to other suggestions.
I've never tried catered chalet but would give that a go.
I would be pleased to hear from any solos or groups that might be interested in meeting up at a resort or sharing a trip in some way. If you want to know more feel free to send me a PM.

There are a bunch of us going to Valthorens on the 23rd of January to the 27th if you are interested.
Mixed bunch of couples and singles aged 35-50 all levels. Flying to Grenoble and back from Lyon.

I am exactly in all respects in the same predicament as you. So with baited breath I booked a solo trip to Tignes with Mark Warner at the end of Jan. Did this as at the time there was no supplement for a single room and apparently they do very good ski hosting, so there is always someone to ski with.
Then I find out about the 6th birthday bash, so I may cancel this and forgoe my £125 deposit when more details become available.

Thanks to you for your responses.
I've got a nice offer from a group of snowheads going to Val Thorens to join them but their flight times are quite different from what I can get so I would be interested to hear form anyone that might like to join me for flights/transfers to Val THorens, with a view ot joining that larger group.
Would anyone be interested in sharing a car hire/transfer with me from Grenoble to Val thorens from 23rd Jan - whenever, probably 30th., even better joining me on a flight from Bristol or possibly Birmingham.

Sounds like you are already booked up but if that fails, I'm on a number of solo skier trips this coming season and have met some great crowds of people. We're skiing December 12th, January 16th and 6th March with some odd beds still available. Some of us are using the luxury sleeper coach which also gives you two extra days skiing and gets you right to the resorts so no expensive transfers. We're off to Meribel. PM me if you want any more info for this year or in the future as I think it is a crowd that wants to make it a regular thing.
