Hey,
Going to Mayrhofen for the first time this winter and have heard conflicting reports about prices for food and drink. Anyone been in this last season who can advise? I went Banff last year and am not looking forward to paying european prices!
Thanx!

Went in March this year, found it pretty reasonable (for a ski resort). Beer usually around 4 - 4.50 euros. Eating on the mountain not too expensive either, can't remember exactly but think we were paying less than 10 euros for Wiener Schnitzel and fries

Hi, As Mayrhofen is in Europe I think you can expect European prices !! Seriously though I think you can expect prices to be somewhat cheaper than France or indeed Italy. It is a town not just a ski resort and as such there is quite a selection of places to eat and drink. A couple of supermarkets (Spar and Billa) in the centre to get essentials. Plenty of bars too, Scotland Yard a favourite (do great spicy chicken wings) and Mo's good for decent priced ribs, burgers etc. Drinks in Arena Night club a little pricey, I prefer the Schlussel Alm (old cow shed type place but does its own pizza's) . Up on the mountain good selection of eateries at reasonable prices. Vroni's sch alm (top Finkenberg) do fab bbq'd stuff at luchtime and if the resort is busy Alm Stuberl at Finkenberg middle station is a real gem.
Have worked number of seasons there so reckon you have made a great choice

Been a few times to Mayrhofen. Always thought the prices were fairly reasonable. Obviously it's going to be a little pricey due to the exchange rate but it won't be anywhere near as bad as some places!

Oh, that doesn't sound too bad. I was expecting it to be much worse than that. Was thinking it was going to be like Val D'Isere! Cheers!

AnnieArtifact155, Beer prices range from €3- €5 depending on where you are but an average of €4.20 is to be expected. Great place for a bite to eat at the end of the Gondola on the opposite side of the road Sausagge and bun about €4.
Lunch on the mountain for your Spag bol Schnitzel and fris for under a tenner. Great pizzas from the place beside the Burton Park and in the village loads of little coffee shops to eat form etc.

If you're at the top of the town there are a couple of large supermarkets round towards the road up to finkenberg, a spar and some Austrian chain, we were getting beer from there for 30 - 40p a decent sized bottle. Nice big tasty pizza was about 5 /6 euro in scotland yard if you get there early enough for a table or a bar seat.

...went with the other half in Jan. Found it ok for price (we were living in Holland at the time and it was actually cheaper eating out in the Ski resort than our local in Breukelen!!) When we were out and about at night we were spending between 40-60 Euro for both of us to eat/drink...

Been to mayrhofen a few times and found it pretty reasonable price wise. Obviously exchange rate not great at the moment. Wish I'd got my euros last year for saalbach in a couple of weeks!

Haha only just spotted that! They will get a shock at the prices if they've only just arrived 😂
And yes you're right kb36. The hot pork sandwiches from that deli/butchers are amazing and addictive!

@Whitty, you can research the places that do the 10 euro schnitzel and fries etc and report back. I am out on 4 March but expect my host, the infamous tatman, will be able to point me in the right direction

We are going to find 'the chicken man' this time! One of our group has just been at Xmas and located it plus throughly tested it,giving it full marks 👍 We found a place for good lunch stop with nice food and a really quirky restaurant and toilets 😀 Think we may have been over leogang /fieberbrunn way? I do remember there was definitely a live OSTRICH next door!!
Other than that we frequently visited the kebab shop in the centre near the glass walled bar? Not a patch on the pork sandwiches from mayrhofen 😢

That's the Stamperl take-away - but why go there when you can get good, inexpensive, fast food at Bobby's Pub?

Had good pizza also from Bobbys. They were long nights with more often than not more than one snacktime 😀
