Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Doorstepskis.com - trained technicians?

I have just been advised by a friend that if we don't get our ski equipment fitted by an approved & qualified ski technician then it can render our insurance invalid in the event of an accident.

Is this true? If so, what qualifications and how do I check that www.doorstepskis.com are ok?

They are the best price I've found.

Caddy, you don't have anything to do with them do you?

I don't believe that insurance policies mandate this. Wouldn't worry about it. Fitted the last bindings myself.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Anything to do with who?

I just read my insurance policy and can't find any reference to it either but apparently it's only just come into force....?

This is our first ski holiday and may end up being our last - it's taken so much organising!!!!

Caddy, As far as I know there is no UK system for 'approving' or qualifying ski technicians.
But if you are worried Filarinski's in Havant near Portsmouth have a binding test machine.

Caddy, they get easier to organise, it'll be worth it.
I'm sure this is just to stop people who dont know what they are at adjusting their own bindings and if you hire kit from a ski shop you should be fine wrt insurance.

there was talk in switzerland about this but i have not heard of it from anywhere else... sdepending on the rental kit they use will depend on if they are certified,, example salomon offer a training course for techs and an exam to certify them.... if there is a problem salomon will support that they are trained but if the binding is set up wrongly that is what they have insurance for

Sounds like I have nothing to worry about then, thanks. I have good winter sports insurance.
