OK so I'm now the proud owner of a pair of brand new (but last seasons) Salomon Lord 177's, STH12 bindings and Impact 8 boots.
I haven't skied before, but I'm in Meribel for the whole season so I'll probably hire some beginner skis for the first couple of weeks while I learn the ropes.
I bought the bindings and skis from different online shops, so I'll need to get them attached and set up properly.
Can anyone recommend a good place in London that can set them up properly? I'm a bit worried because you have to actually drill into the skis to attach the bindings! I also have a couple of snowboards that need servicing, so I'm thinking they can do it all at the same time.
Will Ellis Brigham / Snow and Rock be able to do this proficiently?

Just about any half-decent ski shop, including EB or S&R, will be able to mount the bindings, but the independents will generally offer additional advice and give a better service.

d.brophy, another vote for Bartletts, although you might want to wait till next week, as most of their staff are at the ski show.
Where in Meribel will you be working?

I need to get my new skis mounted too, Dukes on 179 BROs so not 'normal' bindings and on expensive skis so I do NOT want them screwed up. Anywhere decent in the NW that can be trusted?

I'm thinking a trip over to see spyderjon might do it. I could get my SL12s tuned at the same time.

Good idea to hire some beginner skis for a while - make that quite a while...
I had a keen, confident but relatively novice skier come along to my coaching session for the last few weeks. He was using a friend's ex-race skis. Problem was, whilst he was technically the correct size for the skis, they were way too responsive for a (relative) beginner and they responded to his every command: even the wrong ones!
Net result: one skier that crashed quite a few times. Last time it was really bad and he's now off skiing for a few week whilst his broken wrist mends. Next time he skis, I'm insisting he's on the slope's intermediate ski.

snowpatrol, why don't you just put "okbye" in your signature, save you having to write it every, single, bleeding time.

I've been visiting a range of shops round here in France, checking out the bargains. They ALL seem to have 177 Solomon Lords kicking around (without bindings). Did they have a mad day at the factory and make millions one day?

How much do they want for them in France? I got the skis for £280 from countryside.co.uk, and the bindings for £90 and boots for £170 from nevisport.com

RobW - understood. My plan was origially to buy boots and hire skis until I was ready for a good set of intermetiates, but I hate paying retail priced for things!
If I decide the Lord's aren't what I want I can probably sell them on eBay and lose very little money.

This is what you need...IMO
The Duke is a bit more of a specialist binding, IMV... I've had two guys look at mine and ..admittedly, I use AT boots.. but I am still not happy with them. I'd want to use a guy that has had quite a few pass through his workshop.
Besides, I hear the biccies and tea are good
