Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sling Shot Lift anyone??

Ive been having a proper look at this skiing in Chile thing and I was almost swayed until I looked at the brochure a bit more closely and it mentioned these strange things called Sling shot lifts!

Now I have visions of myself lining up to be loaded into a catapult and launched up the mountain bungee style!

Does anyone know what these are really like? Im thinking if they have to highlight it in the brochure its a bad thing!

We had a thread on this on the SCGB forum a while back. It's a unique lift, built by Poma, above the resort of Portillo. The idea was to minimise pylons in an area that's prone to avalanche. Five skiers are pulled at fairly high speed up a slope called the Roca Jack (which has been a venue for the world speed skiing record).

The lift is called the Va et Vient. There's a photo on this page.

Sounds like it might justify the airfare alone...how fast does it go?

Maybe they could install one at Gatwick it would save on the airfare. Just change the angle for different resorts - a stewardess could hand you a drink and a food tray during the launch.

Is your dad a millionaire or something? I'm sure I read on another thread somewhere that you're a student, WITH A DISHWASHER!!! In my student days we couldn't afford washing up liquid never mind a machine to do the dishes for us. We had to lick the plates clean..... Crying or Very sad
