The FIS have announced that current conditions on the glacier in Sölden mean they can confirm the scheduled Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Opening events in ladies' and men's giant slalom on 24th and 25th October 2009. The predictd weather forecast is for cold temperatures on the glacier until at least middle of next week....See: http://www.fis-ski.com/?actu_id_1335=2211&actu_page_1335=1

Some of us are lucky enough to be there to watch and ski along side the course! Just hoping the forecast stays good and delivers perfect conditions for the racers, TV and those of us skiing there.

Samerberg Sue,
Come on you should know the 'rules' by now i.e. you are allowed to brag about material things like chalets, cars, skis etc but location (other than the UK) is a definate no no - don't let us catch you at it again

Heard reports that Bode Miller has hurt his knee and will miss the Sölden race

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

DB, doesn't surprise me about Bode - he does not seem to like this race and misses it I think whenever he can! Wonder whether he'll do the Levi slalom either? I have say I've never been a fan of his, comes over as being fairly "unsympatisch" if you know what I mean.
Be interesting to see who is actually on the Start list - Felix Neureuter (sp) has just dropped out - injured shoulder I think.
As for the rules - we need a "raspberry smiley" for such times! Sorry I'm not pimping some chalet or apartments or a particular resort - not rich enough, I spend too much of my hard earned cash enjoying myself.

Samerberg Sue,
Bode probably won't really start the season until December. I'm interested to see now that Hermann is no longer taking part if the young guns in the Austrian team are spurned on. Raich probably hasn't got that many years at the top level left, it'll be his 300th race at the weekend.
As for the "raspberry smile" - I'm in pretty much the same boat as you, was being sarcastic (lowest form of wit). Was pointing out that bragging about material things was acceptable here but people who have sacrificed such things to be nearer the snow are 'expected' to keep quiet.
