Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Doe they do transfers to Venosc?

I'm sure someone will know this!!!
I'm off to Les Deux Alpes in January with friends form Scotland. I'd planned to make my own way there from the Midlands but on closer inspection the chalet they've booked is actually in Venosc which looks as though its in another valley, linked by a lift. My question is (and I might get round to it in a minute):
Do the L2A bus transfers cover Venosc, as it looks quite a long way round by road? If not will I be able to go over in the lift with all my kit and would anyone know roughly what it costs?
Thanks in advance.

larry duff, i'm not certain on this one, but I suspect you may have to get a bus to Bourg d'oisans, and then a bus to Venosc.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

larry duff, are they actually in Venosc or in the Venosc part of L2A? Do you have an address (or road name) for the chalet? As the naming of the towns can be a bit confusing. If it's actually down in the real village of Venosc you can take the gondola down although you'll need a lift pass, alternatively there are buses from Bourg d'Oisans.

The Venosc is a cable car, so you should be able to put your gear in, I'm sure a local will let you know.
The bus would certainly stop for you in Bourg d'oisans and it wouldn't cost much for a bus or taxi from there.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

larry duff, first, establish whether you are in Venosc village or just the Venosc end of resort as Swirly says.

If you're in Venosc itslef there are very rare buses from Bourg d'Oisans. The cable car trip in included on your lift ticket, or costs 8€ return on its own.

Thanks all! I knew someone would know!
It is definitely Venosc village - that's why I'm asking the question. I assumed it would be L2a resort too when they booked. Now on closer inspection . . .
Very helpful so far though.Any other suggestions welcome.
Thanks.

Looks like the transfer to L2A and the gondoler down is the best option.
Any recommendations for the transfer company?

Won't all buses go through venosc on the way? I've driven there 3 times and a coach there once and every time i've driven through venosc.

garethjomo, no you haven't unless you've gone through it and then back again. The town of Venosc is up a dead end valley that runs to St Christophe and La Berade. You can ski to the former from L2A by dropping of the back of the L2A domain in a number of places at a variety of difficulties.

Swirly, I'd be interested in doing the descent on the way back to the chalet. I suppose a guide would be necessary?

You won't be able to ski to your chalet, unless you have exceptional snow conditions. You can ski down to St Christophe which is further up the valley. A bus is available back to Venosc from the pub once a day. Booking is advisable as gets filled up with guide and clients. Probably best to take a guide anyway as it is a long way from the safety of the lifts and there are hanging glaciers and other nasties around.

Check out Swirly's blog from last season if you want more ideas.
