Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Health and Safety Gone Mad? Something missing from the Ski Olympic Brochure.....

Poster: A snowHead
I for one really look forward to coming in from skiing and seeing the welcoming sight of a log fire. It's always been part of a lovely cosy winter evening.

The Ski Olympic brochure this year states that "Unfortunately due to health and safety concerns fireplaces may no longer be used in any of our chalets and chalethotels".

Indeed, on looking through their brochure none of the chalet interiors pictured have the fire lit - conversely the SkiBeat brochure has the fires lit in all of their pics so don't think this can be a universal decision among tour operators.

Health and Safety gone mad - or have there been some unfortunate incidents I am unaware of which make this justified?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We stayed in a Skiworld chalet at the end of the season, the experienced chalet staff had left and they had a green replacement in - who was hopeless! One of the things he managed to do was clean out the fireplace by putting the hot ashes in a plastic bin bag and then putting the bin bag on the wooden kitchen floor Shocked

cathy, if I recall correctly the same green replacement accompanied us in the minibus from Aime. He was planning to cook a fry up for dinner Shocked . Fortunately we headed up to Arc 2000 and only heard about the incident from our chalet host who had to run down to the other chalet to sort things out.

Helen Beaumont, my OH's eyes would have lit up at the thought of a fry-up for dinner!
