Poster: A snowHead

I have had my dare2be salopettes for about 2 years now. I have been quite disappointed with these - firstly, the straps keep falling down to about the middle of my arm which, when you are skiing, is very uncomfortable. Then, the elastic at the back of them started to go and had to be replaced. Lastly, the clips (which the straps go into at the front) broke which then meant I had to buy actual proper braces. The braces are much better than the straps and I am not going to take the old straps off and just use the braces, they don't fall down and they are very sturdy.
Has anyone else had these problems with salopettes.

jb1970, I'm afraid you get what you pay for. My last pair of ski pants lasted about 14 years before I replaced them, no problems at all - but I paid £100 for them back then.
i've replaced them with another pair (at about the same cost in the sales) and have had two years out of them so far, again without problem. Dare2Be are much cheaper, so are good value for your first few trips in case you don't like skiing . But once you've decided to continue, you're better off buying better quality kit, it's cheaper in the long run.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

as per marc gledhill, really. I've had cheap salopettes and they were ok at forst but began to wear out quite qcuikly.
I bought a pair of killy ski pants in the sale - down to £65 from £160 or so - and they are absolutely fine after three years, look like I've just bought them

The elastic always goes in cheap salopettes. I wear Five Seasons gear, which is toward the cheaper end of the market, and have no complaints. Ski gear is generally overpriced so always wait for a sale if you can.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Columbia salopettes - warm, waterproof, well made, no problems with zips, elastic or strap flop. > 8 years old and look new. Cheap non-branded version - straps constantly stretching and fall down, zip busted.... buy the best you can afford, in a sale

Anyone got any opinions on the White Rock stuff??? Got some of these and used for 6-7 weeks, but they don't seem anywhere near as warm as the first time I wore em?
