I am thinking of going here for a session but notice the surface is not Dendix but some sort of carpet. Is it any good or will going there be a complete waste of time due to friction, lack of speed and other associated crap.
Many thanks!

I skied there once, and have to say that I liked it even less than the Dendix type slopes (and I don't like them much).
But others I know prefer the Chatham surface, so I suspect it is one of those personal things. Good news about the carpet is that it is not likely to do serious injury to your thumb.
Also was there 2 weeks ago for a child's toboggan party and noticed they have just laid new surface, still carpet.

I really must pay more attention. I read that as "season"...

I thought the place had closed down, but seems not. Did it rebrand from Capstone to Chatham at some point?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

If its the same surface they use at Bracknell then I wouldnt bother using your own ski's, because they will probably overheat the base at the edges and ruin your ski's, and if you use the centres ski's they almost certainly not have any edges and hence no grip.

The hire skis are indeed horrible. I don't mind the surface (snowflex I think is the techy name) and don't find it particulalry slow - not that I'm any kind of expert on the relative merits of dry slopes nor do I test its 'fastness' to any great extent.
andy, It's been Chatham ski (and snowboard)centre for ages though I'd probably still call it Capstone locally

What is the difference between snowflex (which all the John Nike slopes were installing a few years ago) and Perma-Snow (which they now seem to have)?

beequin, Interesting discussion, over several years.
In spite of being a 2-planker, I have always quite liked that site.

Put your thinking head on and make a trip to Hemel

|
|
|
You know it makes sense.
|
What's at Hemel then apart from yet another dry slope?
Thanks for comments. The nuance is it's not very good, I take it!

Brilliant! Can I binge drink heavily all evening and cause a slopeside fracas? I promise to wear my best Swiss Toni mullet.
