Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Storage Systems - any ideas?

 Poster: A snowHead

My little storage room in the basement of our apartment is starting to get a bit full up. One idea I had was to buy a ski rack to fix to the one wall so I can store the skis out of the way.

I've searched the 'net and have found a few "hooks" that look a bit flimsy and crap. The only one reasonable looking system is from Germany and I expect it to be expensive - http://www.schiraumtechnik.de/skihalter/wandbefestigung.html?lang=en

Any suggestions for a good wall storage system to house about 6 pairs of skis.

Any hooks, on any rail - used to be some big mug trees for wall mounting that did the job. If you're really worried about scratches or something just tape soft material to the hooks / arms, or to look nicer get some tubed foam and cut it to size then fix it on.

By the way that 'commercial' alternative is very easy to make, it just uses the weight and shape of the skis / board to retain them in position.

Cheers!

My husband created one out of a piece of wood and bits of dowelling - well varnished of course, just like a boat would be - and I think it holds about ten pairs of skis, poles can hang on their straps by each pair of skis. It used to hang horizontally, but now is on a slant and mine go right at one end being on the short side. The older pairs no longer used get stuck up on the wall.
