Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Funnily enough the place I have had most dificulty sideslipping is Hemel - combination of shallow gradient, grippy snow and no momentum made it one of the most difficult basic exercises I've ever done.

FastMan, We have heard that side slipping and traversing are not valued skills in the states! wink wink wink Laughing Laughing Laughing

Ya hear some crazy stuff. Some even think wedge and steering shouldn't even be addressed. Go right from never-ever, to carving. I'm working on them, believe me. Actually making some progress.

Actually quite recently on this forum an instructor working in Canada thought it was a waste of time compared with skiing the student round the mountain. Sad

I'll keep that in mind,,, in case I ever decide to leave coaching and become a tour guide. rolling eyes Laughing

You guys would be surprised how many people who've been skiing for many years haven't developed their side-slipping skills, at even the most basic level. Side-slipping encompasses a package of foundation edging skills that every skier would benefit from owning.

Idiot skiers, always playing catchup to us boarders wink

Not so far from wrong. You guys sure beat us to small radius sidecuts. I remember before the shape ski came out, suffering from sidecut envy as I watched boarders carving beautiful short radius turns. I was making my plans to put 2 snowboards on my feet when shapes hit the market.
