It's quite steep on the top section of the main slope to do a textbook plough turn. A good teaching tip - if you're struggling to do a good demo your students are going to have a tough time...

Hi All,
First day of shadowing at Hemel. 9:00-17:00
Manage to get 2 hours of Juniors + plus 4 hours of Ski-in-a-day shadowing.
The course doesn't prepare you for this!!! Then again I think it is essential to make the qualification meaningful.
So many elements going on with juniors, drills, keeping them interested, counting them!! How to encourage.
Iski I think you would have enjoyed watching the organised chaos
One of the kids in the group at one point just had enough, so he took his ski off and starting using it as a shovel 
I had no real idea how to deal with that. But the instructor put him in a safe place to carry on, and sure enough he got bored and rejoined the group. (Lesson learned: Keep the group safe, occupied, busy, fun, busy, fun, fun )

Fully recovered from flu thanks. 2 days into the week and been doing plenty of fundamentals and central theme. Seems to be going ok so far with lots of positive feedback, although I have decided that bunny hops all the way down the slope are not so good just after lunch! Got a bit scary doing short turns through the bumps this afternoon but I just managed to stay upright!
Just got tonight's homework to do now!

Alex Leaf and Stuart Barnard, with one shadower. Lesson first thing tomorrow - I got introduction to equipment! Slope was really chopped up and quite hard going this afternoon and my calf muscles hurt like hell! Having good fun though and learning a lot, so its all worth it!
