Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Boot length and binding settings

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All

Have just bought a new pair of boots. the length of my old boots was 334 mm. My new ones are from the same manufacturer and marked as 335 mm. Is the extra 1 mm length going to significantly affect the binding settings. Will I have to have the bindings adjusted.

Thanks

No to the DIN setting http://salomontechnician.com/pdf/TechExam.pdf but maybe the they might be better set up slightly bigger if the old setup was on the border of a specific increment. Chances are you'll be fine though. Any old chump can move a binding though so you shouldn't need to get them adjusted, just do it yourself.

john w, there are in fact at least TWO adjustments to consider, the sole length which should be OK and as el nombre, says is usually straightforward, and the forward pressure adjustment which is often badly set and can lead to the binding not working correctly plus the method of adjustment varies between bindings. There may also be an adjustment for toe piece height. Bindings are best set up by an expert, its well worth becoming an expert for your own set up, get the tech to show you how, most are only to happy to do this if they are not busy.

Well yeah this is true but if there's no need to change the DIN then (when talking about changes in sole length i.e. not toe wing height) then its a pretty simple job to slide the heel piece to the next biggest setting to see if the forward pressure is better in that position or not. But yeah, if you're not confident then get someone that knows what they're doing to adjust it.
