Just by chance (was booking hire for this summer) tried our car hire for geneva (swiss side) for next january and it came out at £140 for a week which is way cheaper than holiday autos even with the 15% link.
and if you use quidco you get another 6% cashback as well!! 
Tried it for the french side and it was nearly double, so must be some offer at the moment.

I must be doing something wrong. For 21 - 29 Dec (8 days, admittedly) I am getting £329 on Swiss side and £244 on French side. I tried the avis.co.uk site, having tried avis.com last evening.

pam w, I tried Christmas / New Year and the prices were silly. The better prices seem to start in January.
For example, I paid £124 for a compact estate for a Thursday night - Monday morning in January. Holiday Autos price (using the magic link) is currently £306 (  which is a lot more than I normally pay for compact estate). £124 is what I'd normally expect to pay for a Group A compact car.

Holiday autos were kind to me yesterday:
11 days over Chrismas their cheapest car was a Ford Focus at £324, a Ford Ka was £350 and Opel Astra £440
Clearly the Focus was wrong...so I booked it.
