Poster: A snowHead

CEM, does that mean mine are not good then?! I was under the impression they're one level downfrom race boots (Salomon X Wave 9 ladies). Sold to me by another well known bootfitter! Maybe the bit on the end isn't replaceable, but it looks like a hard rubber and has screws through it, rather than being part of the shell.

beanie1, the term was “top end”, not ‘good’.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

alex_heney, isn't it more the toe piece? I think the heel piece can often be replaced anyway.
The toes are wearing pretty well on mine - can't see them ewaring out before i want to replace the boots anyway. And that's despite lots of time spent walking the snowless streets of Wengen! |
The heel will wear much faster than the toes, so that is the part which needs protecting more, even if it can be replaced.

beanie1, the heel peice on the x wave is replaceable, but it is in the minority of boots at that level.... boots like the lange banshee pro have replaceable sections at both heel and toe but it is designed that you are likely to be walking to get to skiing and the sole units are vibram to give better grip

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Just to dissent from the prevailing opinion...I LIKE my cat tracks.
The first few times, I found them a bit fiddly to put on, but now don't have any problem with them. - I still have to be sitting down to put them on/take them off, though. I haven't progresed to the double-black diamond skill of being able to put them on one foot while standing on the other (which I've seen done).

You're not alone, I like cat tracks too and can remove them and put them on standing up
