Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Albrecht back in training!

Danny Albrecht is already back training! Last week he was in Austria getting three days of slalom training on the Kaunertal glacier, as he works up towards next season (although he has planned a two-year return if necessary). ...That's only four months since he was in a medically induced coma, such were his injuries after crashing in Kitzbuhel.

His coaches are pleased with how it has started, and they have commented that Albrecht is getting better on each run.

Excellent news following a crash that looked so bad. snowHead

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yep, fantastic news, Iwould love to see him back on the WC circuit and SOON!Seems amazing to me that anyone could even walk away from that let alone want to race again.

With all the attention on the Winter Olympics currently, and some spectacular crashes in the skiing plus the tragic accident in the luge, I was reminded of Daniel Albrecht.

His near tragic accident on the Streif in the 08/09 season robbed Switzerland of a potential medal winner IMHO. According to this report, the accident also appears to have robbed Daniel of some of his memoryand ability to know what to do on his skis in certain situations.

He suggests that he will race again. I'm not so sure. Any snowHeads have a better insight?

I notice that Daniel Albrecht was a fore runner on this weekend's GS - nice to hear.
