Poster: A snowHead

I'm considering doing a ski instructor course this coming season in Canada and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Preferably a company that guareentees a job as an instructor at the end of it would be good...
Also is CSIA the most prestigious Canadian ski qualification?
Thanks, Skibum22.

Skibum22, Non-Stop have a good reputation.
CSIA is the only Canadian Ski Instructors Qualification. http://www.snowpro.com It has 4 levels, CSIA 1 being the starting point. Level 1 is administered by the individual resorts, the higher levels are booked through the CSIA.
The Gap type courses, will do Level 1 pretty early on and finish with the 5 day Level 2. You'd get a job in Canada teaching kids with a L1, with L2 once the ski school know you, they'll let you loose on adults, plus with L2 upwards, it's easier to work in Canada with regard to work permits.
The pay rates are very poor, so be aware.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Skibum22, there are numerous threads on here about the pros and cons of various different instructor courses on the forum, try searching.

I did one with Nonstop, wouldn't do anything different looking back. I completed my course in Banff. A buddy of mine had a work visa so did some work at the weekends after he had completed his level 1, seemed like it was pretty straight forward for him to pick up some work.

Have you ever considered the US? SITCo. run a great course over in Snowbird, Utah, and it is really well linked in with the Snowbird Snowsports School.

You'll need to Register first of course.

Skibum22, I second the suggestion to do a search - there's been masses written, but the point is whether you just want to do it for fun or whether you want to do it for a career. If it's the latter do a lot more research about which country's qualifications to work for before deciding. Your question does tell us that you haven't done much research though.
