Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Whistler Mountain to close 2 weeks earlier than planned

Officials are going to close Whistler this Sunday, 2 weeks earlier than planned, because of waning snow. Skiing on Whistler Mountain had been originally scheduled to continue until June 14th.

Yup bad season for Whistler, but still good compared to most other resorts. Just under 30ft for the season.
Also, if the visitor numbers were (currently) higher, the mountain would still be open for Spring skiing. There is enough snow still, but it is easier to say 'closed for snow' rather than 'closed because it costs too much to run this mountain if no one is going to ski on it'

yep - we were there last weekend and the laps of West Bowl from the peak were a delight on very good cover. It was pretty deserted on Monday tho.

wbsr, Have been thinking of going to Whistler in April 2010. Do you know what is the earliest date that Whistler Mountain has been closed at the end of the Winter/Spring season?

Iski, I skied there in mid May a couple of years back. Bottom third of the mountain was closed to skiers (open to MTB-ers - and bears Shocked ). April should be sound, apart from the prices and queues. Or will the Olympics be long gone by then?

andyph, Apparently they should be and it also seems they think most of the visitors will be gone with them. Not good for the resort but hopefully good for me if I do manage to go Very Happy

Whistler hosts the annual World Ski and Snowboard festival every April, so that should indicate the reliability of snow in April (although generally the lower mountain is closed or close to being closed)
