When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

'Ski Wonderzone' opens in China

'Ski Wonderzone' - the latest of China's small but rapidly growing set of ski areas - has opened within 250km of Beijing and 50km of Zhangjiakou. The resort has three double chairlifts, five runs and a maximum altitude of 2110m.

The rush to build ski facilities closer to Beijing has resulted in some failures, sometimes due to unreliable or non-existent snow-making. Ski Wonderzone promises computerised snow production...

This report from China View mentions that this ski area is "the first ski resort with no entrance fee", suggesting that spectators may be revenue earners at other Chinese ski facilities, since the liftpass always has to be paid for.
