last time i was in US about 2 months ago or so, I saw a special on Bode where Bryant Gumble went to interview him at his childhood home. Showed Bode doing his old training routine at the cabin and in the woods. He was pretty clear that the olympics had abolutely no attraction for him, nor had winning races generally. Interesting piece

Bode Miller tells Head he will keep skiing |
I imagine the Head was pleased about this. Good to know that his school curriculum includes skiing.

And obviously he's not just good skier but also great liar Anyone claiming he's not interested in winning is lying. Once you are in this level of sport, sport is not really all that much of fun anymore. It's too much of training, that it would be all that fun. Winning on the other side brings enough fun, that training part stays in shadow, and you don't worry about this.
I believe he loves skiing, but love for skiing wouldn't make him, or anyone else, stay in WC skiing. He would enjoy skiing, or maybe even racing on lower level, but if he wouldn't be interested in winning, he would be out of WC next second. I was there, except that I was never winning, so I actually know how much it takes to just be there, not to mention to win something.
